I have expressed my discontent about my education at DSU to many people so far, however I must say that I am learning a great deal of information...in some classes. One of my favorite classes so far is my Introduction to Digital Photography Art 281 class. It has opened my eyes to a new way of looking at everything and we haven't even gotten into the deep stuff yet. I've been reading the text that she assigns (unlike the rest of the class) and it's amazing the information that the text tells you.
One of the greatest things I have learned is regarding file format. Most people take their photos and leave them in their JPEG format. However I found out that the JPEG format actually throws away pixels that it feels your pictures don't need in order to condense it to fit on disks, jump drives, hard drives, etc. It not only throws away pixels the first time, but everytime you open the picture to send it in an e-mail, show someone on a slideshow, adjust the size, every time you open it, you loose a little bit more. To put it in a more simple way, the way I explained it to Tyler...it's like you fill your cup with Lemonade, and someone takes a sip out of it and puts it back, then after a while you don't have Lemonade anymore. Anyways, I took lots of picture today of my little angel using some new techniques that I learned from reading and used the format RAW(which uses a ton of space but looks SOOO much better!) Anyways, I have to convert the pictures into a different format before I can upload then or edit them at all, which means I can't get you the pictures as quickly. I did convert one of the files to upload for you, just so you can see how clear the pictures are, how much detail there is and how beautfiul our little girl is. So here is a preview of the photos I took today.
